I woke up at about six in the morning today to get ready for another day of school. As I walked to school I noticed it was a bit more cold than other days but I didn't think much of it because usually it always gets hotter as the day goes on. It turns out I was right about it getting hotter, as I was walking towards the school cafeteria. I noticed the temperature changed dramatically since the morning and the sky was clear as can be. So I thought it was going to be a normal day like any other, but I have never been more wrong. When I got home from school at about three in the afternoon the sky wasn't clear anymore.
Big dark clouds surrounded me from above. The smell of rain was present, and there were small gusts of wind blowing against me. At first I was happy it was going to rain because Reno, Nevada isn't known for rain and we have been in need of water for a long time because it hasn't snowed like it should of for the past two years. Again I was proven wrong when I woke up the next morning and found out it didn't rain. What we did get was a lot of wind, I realized this as I was going to sleep. I heard the wind crashing into the side of my house, the leafs on the trees outside being pushed around ferociously, and my house windows vibrating slightly as each gust of wind tried to get inside.
I liked how you choose to write about weather. It can be very interesting, especially how it is beginning to change. You should take pictures, so we can see what's going on :). Good blog :).
ReplyDeleteNice post. I usually walk to school and notice how the weather changes. Why is it always cold in the morning and hot throughout the day? Could it be the earth's rotation? I remembered when it was really windy with no rain; and I thought that was awful, but I can't help but love the looks and feel of the gloomy weather, even if there's no rain to go with it. I can't wait to read more from you.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of your observation, especially since Reno doesn't exactly have the most consistent weather patterns. One minute it'll be raining and the next it'll be really hot. But I think it'll be a great blog. I agree with Heidy Corona, pictures could add more to the blog, so we can see what you are seeing.
ReplyDeleteThe changes in weather is so facinating. I like the way you described the detail of the clouds and the wind. Reno's weather is so unpredictable. We never know what is to come the next day. I always have trouble getting dressed in the mornings, always trying to plan ahead for the weather. Next week is suppose to be colder. (We'll see about that.)
ReplyDeleteYour post really emphasizes the idea of Nevada being bipolar. Do you collect actual weather temperatures of any kind ? It would be very interesting if you found some sort of pattern along the seasons.
ReplyDeleteI had to go outside at midnight and tie up a window frame that was banging against the side of the house.
